movie night with the girls

I headed down to Del Mar to meet up with some girlfriends for a drink and to see a movie last night. (I’m so bummed I didn’t pull out my camera, but I had just met all but one of the girls, so I kinda chickened out of taking pics!)

We met at Champagne Bakery and Cafe for apps and drinks. It was a cute little place, had an outdoor area with a fountain, although we ate inside since it is getting a bit chilly at night.

so many good pastries! i wanted them all!

I had a bite of the baked goat cheese, which was so darn good! I kind of wanted my own, but I had already eaten dinner so I held back. Score one for me in healthy eating. Ok, so I did have 2 glasses of wine, but I was pressured into the second one ;). I was meeting several new friends, and it was so great to just chill out and chat and not have any agenda. It just felt normal, and I hadn’t felt like that in a while when I’m out with girls. So after a few tales and many laughs we headed to the movie theater next door to see “Going the Distance.” Gotta love Drew Barrymore!

The movie was hilarious! There were so many funny, laugh out loud moments, that it is worth seeing. Definitely a good girls night out movie, but I think it’d be a good date night movie too. There is some bathroom humor (both literally and figuratively!). However the plot is really lame, and it kind of dragged on. I won’t spoil it, but the ending leaves something to be desired. Just go for the great one-liners and Justin Long’s character has these friends that are such dorks, but so funny. Again, I can’t get over how funny it is!

Now it’s time to enjoy the weekend! Hiking again tomorrow with the dog and Dog Beach on Sunday! There is a Doggie Surf-a-thon, so I’m excited to watch. The dog will not be making an appearance in that, but she will be splashing in the waves. I’ll be taking plenty of pics for the blog!
